The Lord Will Provide

1 Corinthians 15

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

The Lord will provide everything we need if we just have faith. Talking as a former Alcoholic I know first hand what the Lord can do. It started in my late 20s when I was having marriage trouble with my first wife. Our marriage was always in turmoil but we were young and in love. We had 3 children that we brought into the world and even the blessing of children could not stop the fighting between us.

This led her to start going out with her girlfriends on the weekends and me stopping at the bar after work every night. It wasn’t long before I started staying out later after work and she started staying out later on the weekends. Soon the alcohol use turned to using stronger things to help kill the pain of a broken family. My children grew up without a mom and dad and their behavior soon changed for the worse. I always knew in the back of my mind that The Lord would provide for me but I just couldn’t see it at the time.

Alcohol and drugs took over our life and our marriage and family life went into darkness. I wandered around for years in a alcohol and drug induced fog, had several dead end relationships and even another marriage that resulted in divorce. We had moved to Florida because I was seeking a new start for us and our little girl we had.I tried to save the marriage with counseling but she had issues with alcohol and drugs and she started seeing someone else. She would later regret her decision but by then it was too late.

I met the love of my life while my second Wife and I were separated. I had gone to a private club one night with a friend of mine I was working with part time at night. I sat down next to her and just started talking to her like we knew each other all our lives. At the end of the night she invited me to a Halloween party at her house.

I was real nervous about going to the party and kept telling myself I didn’t deserve to have fun and stay home. My Aunt finally talked me into going and I am glad she did. As soon as I arrived she greeted me with a hug and said welcome to the party. There were only a few people there because a lot of the people she invited didn’t show up. She started making me drinks and we started talking about life and found out we had a few things in common.

There was only a couple of guys at the party and she seemed to be interested in me more than any of the other guys. We talked, drank and ate all night and she had a hot tub in her garage that she said we could sit in. I told her I didn’t have a pair of shorts but she said her X left some clothes and there was a pair I could use.

The next thing I knew I woke up the next morning in her bed but I was fully clothed. She said we had been talking and we must of fell asleep. I leaned over and gave her a kiss and said good morning and the next thing you know we were holding each other tight and enjoying each others company. We always laugh when we tell people she invited me to a Halloween party and I never left.

I divorced my first Wife and we got married but the first few years were a little rocky because we were still drinking and didn’t attend Church like we should of been. We moved a few times to different houses and I thought the change of scenery would help. It wasn’t until we moved to Tennessee that our life to a big turn.

One day while unpacking a knock came at the door,I answered it and it was a guy dressed up in a Rebel Uniform who smelled like alcohol and Marijuana. I said what can I help you with and he slurred out i’m here to help protect the South. Being the sarcastic person I was the first thing that came out of my mouth was, looks like the South needs protection from shady characters like you. He started mumbling something and started acting a little aggressive so I told him in a simple to understand message that he needed to get off my porch or I was going to remove him. He left and we never saw him again.

The following day I heard someone on the porch and a knock on the door so the first thing I thought was oh boy looks like we are going to have some butt wooping action today. I opened the door and there stood this older gentleman with a bible in his hand and a smile on his face. He introduced himself and invited us to his Church up the road. He prayed with us before he left and a good feeling came over me and we even prayed for the guy that was drunk and came to the house.

Could this be the sign I was looking for bringing me closer to the Lord. We soon joined his Church and I got Baptized in the local creek. We joked with the Preacher that he should of held me under longer to make sure I was cleansed thoroughly. It wasn’t long after that we started going to Church on a regular basis, quit drugs, alcohol and tobacco and I even preached a couple of times. Let me tell you standing in front of a bunch of people preaching the gospel makes you nervous.

The next few years we changed Churches a few times and started missing services. Eventually our life started getting stressful and money was getting tight. One day we started attending Church again and praying for financial blessings. Things started to come together and we always seemed to have enough money to tithe and pay the bills. We started a catering business and I also did a little woodworking part time. Things are looking up and we just keep reminding ourselves that The Lord will provide.

Thanks for reading,we hope you got inspired to seek the guidance of the Lord in your daily life.

Reddit woodworking

Reddit woodworking tips can be helpful but I don’t really see it as a long term use for someone serious about woodworking. I was looking for some tips about woodworking and I thought a reddit woodworking subreddit would give me some ideas.

I also read where you can get traffic to your website from reddit so I thought why not get some ideas and maybe some traffic at the same time. Let me tell you these people on the reddit woodworking site are in a different world. I glanced over the rules and joined a reddit woodworking group with the hopes of learning new project ideas ans maybe some traffic.

The reddit woodworking subreddit I joined looked real cool and  some of the posts and pictures of some of the projects they made looked awesome. The people seemed to be real nice even though I heard horror stories about how ruthless they can be. Some of the projects had links to other sites so I left a comment with a link to a very useful woodworking tool that I know would make their job easier.

Before I knew it they sent me an email and a notice in my reddit account that I had been banned permanently from the reddit woodworking thread. I couldn’t figure out why until I read the rules a little closer. They don’t allow links from anyone even though I seen a few in there from other people. It seems a little excessive to ban someone for life from a thread but if they are that ruthless I guess its not meant to be for me.

What was going to be a fun adventure turned out to be a big waste of time for my promotion efforts. So a word of advice is if you want to get some free advertising don’t use reddit. Want to learn about a woodworking side business.Click the link below

Rustic woodworking projects

Do you enjoy the look of old wood like the kind from barns and old houses. If you check on Etsy or look at your local flea market you will find a bunch of items made from old wood. We tore down an old barn just to get the lumber so we could make some rustic woodworking projects.

Working with wood is so much fun and you can make some real cool things. You don’t have to be an expert to create some real nice looking stuff from wood. In fact you can even make up to $150,000 per year if you have the right knowledge. I got my start from Woodworking Profits step by step instructions for making rustic woodworking projects and earning money working from my shed.

If you have a few hours a week to spare then rustic woodworking projects may be just right for you. Look in the classified ads section to get some tools or visit Harbor Freight. Get some inexpensive tools at first but don’t cheap out on saw blades, drill bits and router bits. Once you get some projects under your belt you can upgrade your tools.

Check out local flea markets and online ads for rustic lumber from old barns and houses. Just remember to be careful with old lumber because some may contain lead based paint and other toxins. Always wear proper dust protection when working with any wood. Don’t be scared to work with older wood because as long as you take proper precautions, you will have no problems.

Rustic woodworking projects look beautiful and sell well. Take some time and drive around neighborhoods where there is old homes and old barns. A lot of time you may find wood free or cheap for your projects so do your homework. I sometimes collect old pallets and large wooden spools that used to hold wire. I made a few chairs with the old spools and a picnic table.

Make sure you put a good sealer on your projects because wood left out unsealed rots faster. I learned this the hard way years ago when I first started woodworking. A little bit of sealer helps protect and prolong the life of your projects. Good quality work means happy customers and lots of repeat business and referrals.

Rough Cut barn wood projects

After I tore down my first barn I was hooked on old rough cut woodworking. Taking an old weathered piece of wood and turning it into a piece of art is very rewarding. One day while skimming through the classified ads I ran across an ad for a free barn. I called the number but figured it had already been taken, but to my surprise it was still available. I never gave much thought to old barn wood so I did a search and found old rough cut woodworking was very popular and valuable.

We made arrangements to to come down and look at the barn before I committed to anything. The owner had just bought the property and didn’t want the old barn on his site and was giving it away for the wood. He said his wife and him didn’t have the time of energy to tear it down. The barn was about 60 years old and still in decent shape. I shook hands with the owner and told him we would start tearing it down in a couple of days.

The old barn had a lot of oak, poplar and pine wood all in decent shape and rough cut sawmill lumber. The roof was tin and had been painted red just like the outside of the barn itself. I tested the paint to make sure it wasn’t lead based and it turned out to be water based paint that was about 20 years old.

You have to be careful with old building because paint made before 1978 could have lead in it. Lead based paint is harmful to humans so it is best to be safe. When tearing down an old building always wear a dust mask and gloves to protect yourself. Working with rough cut woodworking you have to use care with excess dust and nails sticking up.

We started tearing down the tin off the roof  and then took all the rafters and cross boards off. The rafters and the cross boards were all sawmill cut pine and oak. Let me tell you about old lumber we discovered real fast, nails tend not to come out easy so make sure to use a good wrecking bar.

The loft sides were oak boards and came off fairly easy but the loft floor which was also was made out of oak came up a little hard but the right tools made the job easier. The floor joists were oak and pine and the stalls were made out of oak. There was some bad wood we had to throw away but in the end we got about 2000 sf of usable lumber.

It took a few days to take it down, haul it away and pull all the nails out. Pulling the nails was quite a task but in the long run we got a lot of beautiful wood to use for projects. Our plans were to use some of the wood to make projects with and sell some to pay for our time and overhead. If you are looking for inexpensive wood and don’t mind a little hard work then tearing down old barns and houses for rough cut woodworking can be very rewarding.
